Jenny from Badger Bus will be bringing a yellow school bus to the library for a 20 minute storytime. Children will get a chance to board the bus, greet the driver, find a seat, hear a story, exit the bus, and get a small prize before they head back into the library to check out fun Back to School books. The east side/northbound traffic lanes will be closed to traffic but open to runners, walkers, bikes and strollers. Anytime Fitness is sponsoring a 3K run/walk, there will be bands, sidewalk sales, farmer's market, flea and craft sales, lunch specials and a pub crawl. Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 Monona Grove Business Men's Chili Cook-off Ends: Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Location: AmericInn - 101 W. Broadway, Monona Contact: Jeff Machut The aroma of bubbling pots of spicy homemade chili will fill the air during the MGBMA Annual Chili Cook-off. More than 30 chefs will be vying for the top awards and cash prizes, making this one of the biggest in the state. Competition is open to all, but participants must register prior to September 17, 2010. Contact Jeff Machut at the AmericInn Lodge & Suites. Chili day is a fun day for the chefs, their helpers and general public. The chefs take their chili seriously and no two chilis are the same...some are just a little hotter than others. Many participants set up signs, displays and wear crazy costumes. Samples from the chefs may be purchased for 50 cents each. Watch for the Classic Car Show this year! For every $26 contributed a meal is provided to a needy family through the St. Stephen's Food Pantry or to a Monona School District Family in need. The meals include: either a turkey or a holiday ham, potatoes, carrots, canned fruit, vegetables, stuffing, cranberry sauce, muffins, pie or cobbler. Drop your change in one of our piggy bank collection contqainers or mail a check to the Monona Chamber of Commerce at 6320 Monona Drive, Monona, WI 53716. We are also collecting non-parishable foods in large collection barrels. One hundred percent of money and food items collected are donated to the pantry and High School program.
